By Air :
The nearest airport is Mumbai - 40kms away.
By Rail :
Dombivli is a major railway station on Central Railway's Mumbai suburban line. Though all suburban trains
( slow & fast ) halt at Dombivli, there are no long-distance trains having their halts at Dom Rly Stn. The nearest major
railhead is Kalyan ( 6kms down the line ) or Thane ( 15kms towards Mumbai ).
From Mumbai side, all locals termainating at Kalyan, Ambarnath, Badlapur, Titwala, Karjat, Khopoli,
Asangaon & Kasara halt at Dombivli. Plus, there are special Dombivli-bound local trains from Mumbai CST & Dadar.
By Road :
Dombivli does have a state highway passing through its outskirts, but nothing to reckon about. KDMT operates
bus services to nearby suburbs and Kalyan from Baji Prabhu Chowk in Dombivli(East). NMMT has services from Dombivli
to Navi Mumbai from the bus-stop near Municipal Hospital in Dombivli(West). In terms of long-distance
travel, many tour operators have bus services to Dombivli, some almost daily connecting various parts of Maharashtra, Andhra
Pradesh & Karnataka.
Maharashtra S.T. buses also connect various other cities of the state to the city.
Getting Around :
KDMT operates "citybus" services on major routes
in the city. The minimum fare is Rs.3/- and goes to about Rs.5/- max.
Rickshaws form the most readily available form of
local transportation. The standard flat fare is Rs.10/- for a single passenger and Rs.5/- for a shared rickshaw. Though, fares
are fixed, meter tariff is non existent so BARGAIN HARD.
Bicycles are available on hire at many locations
in the city and cost around Rs.3/hour with an additional deposit.
